SECRET ROOF TOP GARDEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AMSTERDAM
This penthouse apartment in Amsterdam’s Museum Quarter is spread over two floors with a roof terrace on both levels. The clients wanted the design and layout of this elevated secret garden to evoke the spirit of California where they lived before moving to Amsterdam.
The lower roof terrace had to extend the dining room into the outdoors with a large dining table and outdoor kitchen. On the upper terrace we created a spacious outdoor living room with a lounge area that is a lovely place to sit and entertain guests.
The design concept for both roof terraces features a lush Mediterranean planting scheme that creates a tranquil green oasis in the heart of Amsterdam.
Erwin Stam Tuinstudio produced the designs for the roof terraces and supervised all aspects of the project, from construction, lighting and watering to procurement of the plants and outdoor furniture.
